2017 UM Renegade Limited vs. UM DSR 200

The UM Renegade Limited and DSR 200 use similar-size single-cylinder engines in completely different chassis. The Renegade is a low cruiser with a large fuel tank and feet-forward posture. The DSR is a dual-purpose motorcycle with a tall seat, longer suspension and a 19-inch front wheel.

UM specifications varied substantially between countries and model years. The comparison below uses the 196 cc Renegade Limited listed for India and the closely related 196–199 cc DSR/DSRX 200 sold in Latin American markets.

Cruiser Comfort or Mixed-Surface Ability?

The Renegade Limited favors paved-road stability and visual presence. Its low wheels, split seat, dual rear shocks and substantial tank suit relaxed commuting and longer intervals between fuel stops. The riding position is less suitable for standing over bumps or dealing with deeply broken surfaces.

The DSR 200 uses a narrower, taller layout with telescopic front suspension, rear monoshock and dual-purpose wheel sizes. It is better prepared for unsealed roads and rough urban streets, though it remains a modest air-cooled machine rather than an enduro racer. Its 860 mm seat may be inconvenient for shorter riders.

Choose the Renegade for low-seat cruiser styling and road use; choose the DSR for lighter handling and mixed surfaces. For either used model, verify the exact engine number, local parts supply and service support before buying. With defunct or reorganized distributors, a rare trim badge can become a surprisingly effective parts-catalogue puzzle.
