Looking at the pre-production Cybertruck at the neon Tesla launch events and endlessly hyped in the cryptocurrency-adjacent Twittersphere, I was struck by a few things.
First, god, what an ugly design. Secondly, how could they ever make it safe for the road with all of those sharp edges?
Well, the answer was really quite ingenious: Tesla didn’t make it safe at all, and instead shipped a truck with knife-sharp panels.
All-in-One Utility: Pickup Truck and Julienne Slicer
It isn’t hard to imagine what the Cybertruck will do when it inevitably hits a pedestrian or biker. You will have to imagine, though, because the Cybertruck is not currently on any European nation’s roadmap for the Euro NCAP, which would measure the safety of the vehicle for pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.
If you think a 400 pound deer is a reasonable stand-in for a pedestrian, THOSE results we do know. A Cybertruck recently cut a deer clean in half on a Texas highway. So, the prognosis is not great for this Tesla and pedestrian safety.
