Early Driver Reviews: 2025 Dodge Charger Scatpack EV

When Dodge announced in 2023 that they were discontinuing the gas-powered Charger, enthusiasts were devastated. The Charger has always been a brute-force muscle car with an unapologetic attitude, and replacing it with an EV felt like corporate insanity.

Fortunately, Stellantis came to their senses (amid absolutely bruising earnings reports), and gas-powered Charger models are coming back… but first, the new EV Chargers are rolling out, and early drivers are weighing in on how the new electric sportscars measure up.

First Things First: Let’s Burn Some Rubber

Hoodrat stuff is good for the soul, and muscle cars are built for hoodrat stuff. Watch some enterprising 2025 Charger EV enjoyers do donuts.

So it actually burns rubber

Also, can we take a moment to observe. The body model does not look like a Charger. It looks like the modded 1970’s Challenger from the entirely forgettable film “In Time (2011).”

Entirely forgettable except for its casting of both the incomparably beautiful 1970’s Challengers as well as the well-renowned classic car expert Olivia Wilde.

Actual Drivers Review the 2025 Dodge Charger Scatpack EV

One early owner took to Reddit to sum up their experience behind the wheel. Here are the highlights:

  • The car is crazy smooth: so smooth, in fact, that triple-digit speeds sneak up on you.
  • With the fake exhaust sounds turned off, the Charger EV is eerily quiet. Turning them on makes it feel more natural.
  • The suspension and handling are a huge step up. Turning is precise, and the AWD system keeps everything planted, even under hard acceleration. (Funny, the Cartube guys who are paid by the click for outrage-bait said the exact opposite. Interesting!)
  • Full-throttle launches are surprisingly drama-free. Barely any slipping off the line.

The Cartube echo-chamber basically said this vehicle was a rolling dumpster fire due to its electric drivetrain. On the other side, Tesla’s social media interns are doubtlessly doing what they are paid to do for their corporate overlords, and planting doubt that any automaker other than the Martian messiah can create an electric vehicle. Seeing real driver experiences where speed demons are enjoying the wind in their hair… that’s nice for a change of pace!

One factor I underestimated: the customizable lights look f’ing great. Take a look at these interior photos from an early driver:

Also: New Drivers Have Already Curbed Their Chargers and Cracked the Windshields

It wouldn’t be a FuelArc News article without some weird news sprinkled in. Get a load of this.

probably the first 2024 charger EV to have curb rash and a cracked windshield 😭🙏🏼

Ouch! Not every new Charger EV owner is having the best time. One unlucky soul has already curbed their fresh-off-the-dealer-lot ride and cracked the windshield. Maybe they got a little too into that “crazy smooth” acceleration?

Some Parting Thoughts… for the Road

Look, we’ve been plenty critical of Stellantis when they’ve deserved it. But they’re trying to be a serious automaker, and the early driver reviews of the Charger EV is promising. If they keep up this momentum, it certainly can’t hurt their flagging sales numbers. Now let’s see if they can actually build these things at scale without recall after recall. Fingers crossed, looks pretty sweet.
