In a highly scientific straw poll of the folks over at Ask Car Guys, pickup truck drivers voted on their pick for the “Worst Pickup Truck of All Time.”

The Methodology for This Very Scientific Polling Experiment

Sometimes, walking into a Reddit thread is like walking into a barfight. This one is no exception!

To help apply order to chaos, we counted votes in our own way (there were more than a thousand votes if you just slogged through EVERY comment and upvote).

So there were RULES for this little exercise in 4-wheeling democracy!

We counted candidates as Makes and Models that were commented directly on the thread. IE, not in reply to someone else’s vote. The reply to someone else’s vote is counted differently, those are the Honorable Mentions below. The candidates earned one vote for being commented, and then one vote per upvote on that comment.

If we knew what you meant, we included your vote in the appropriate bar. For instance, “Hyundai Garbage” is not TECHNICALLY the official name of the Hyundai Santa Cruz, but we get what you meant. By the same token, there are a LOT of colorful names for the Cybertruck used on the thread, many which we will not be printing. Lot of heat there. Jeez louise, these Redditors need to relax. WankPanzer was the most common, and message received, your vote was counted correctly. And, you needed at least 5 votes to be in the race.

For folks wondering about the “why?” more than the “how?”, this is a comedy publication. We’re like the Colbert Report if the Colbert Report had more speeding tickets than Emmys. Everything you read here is true (to the best of our knowledge at press time), but we don’t mind if you laugh about it.

Honorable Mentions

Sometimes, the best candidate doesn’t win. We’d like to highlight some honorable mentions, these are repeat contenders who kept popping up in the comments:

• Lincoln Blackwood: A pickup truck with a carpeted bed. I wonder why it wasn’t a hot seller!
• Honda Ridgeline: Folks generally hated unibody trucks, like the Ridgeline or the Cybertruck. A fair point, they are indeed worse at “truck stuff.”
• Everything Electric: This gives you an idea of how suspicious pickup truck drivers are of electric vehicles. Auto industry insiders ought to look at results like that with due caution.
