The TVS XL Super and TVS Akula 310 occupy distant ends of the Indian two-wheeler story. The XL Super is a lightweight step-through moped built for basic transport and load carrying. The Akula 310 was a carbon-fiber-bodied sportbike concept displayed in 2016—not a production motorcycle with a normal retail specification sheet.
The production model inspired by the Akula was the TVS Apache RR 310, launched in late 2017. Listings that describe an “Akula 310” for sale should be checked carefully; they generally mean an RR 310.

Utility Moped or Fully Faired Sportbike?
The XL Super’s low step-through frame, simple drivetrain and rear carrier made it useful for short-distance work. Its small two-stroke engine and drum brakes belong to an earlier era; buyers should consider emissions restrictions and parts availability.
The Akula previewed the aerodynamic shape and BMW-derived 310-class platform that reached production as the RR 310. The production bike added road equipment, a steel trellis frame and ABS while retaining the concept’s performance intent.
Choose an XL Super as inexpensive vintage utility transport where it remains legal and supportable. Choose an Apache RR 310 for modern road performance. Choose an actual Akula only if the TVS museum has made a serious clerical error.
