The Yamaha YXZ1000R SS and 2017 Yamaha Alpha BS IV both use automatic clutch technology, but that coincidence should not be allowed to wander around unsupervised. The YXZ is a two-seat sport side-by-side developed for North American off-road use. The Alpha is an Indian-market 113 cc step-through scooter designed for economical city travel.
The YXZ1000R SS is not street legal in standard form. The Alpha is a road vehicle. Their operating environments should remain politely separate.

Off-Road Performance or Urban Transport?
The YXZ uses a sequential five-speed gearbox with steering-column paddles and an automatically operated clutch. It offers direct gear selection without a clutch pedal, plus long-travel suspension and a protective occupant structure. It is designed for recreation on suitable off-road terrain.
The Alpha’s CVT needs no shifting at all. Its small engine, step-through frame, under-seat storage and compact dimensions make it practical in Indian traffic. The 2017 update added BS IV emissions compliance and an always-on headlamp.
Choose the YXZ for high-performance trail recreation with proper safety equipment. Choose the Alpha for commuting and errands. One needs a trailer to reach its playground; the other is perfectly content to carry the rider to the grocery store.
